DEMO MATERIAL FOR REVIEW

Footballs in Space

A piece of music made from scientific data (the absorbance spectrum of C60+). C60+ (a form of carbon related to graphite) ions in interstellar clouds may hold clues to the origin of life on earth and the video shows how this may have happened. Animation by Matilda Nelson.

Falling Walls

Some music about cutting edge research performed in the School of Chemistry in Edinburgh. Animation by Matilda Nelson.

RNaseP

I used the sequence of one of the most ubiquitous molecules in all of life (RNaseP) to make this bit of music. I changed RNA bases into notes to make a melody and built a piece of music around it.

Portnalong Eagle.

This piece of music is a demo for the project and is inspired by a time that I met a young eagle soaring on a thermal at the top of a cliff near Portnalong (at the south end of Loch Bracadale. The first part in 5/4 time represents me trading through the bog and heather to get to the top of the cliff and the 6/8 section represents the eagle sailing away into the sunset.
